I have a background in biomedical engineering, having completed my PhD in 2024 which focused on central neuropathic pain development following spinal cord injury, aiming to identify patient susceptibility to pain through biomarkers based on brain activity. It was through this clinical research that my interest in the use of AI for healthcare applications began, particularly in its potential to enhance diagnostics, patient care, and treatment outcomes. This inspired me to pursue a career in the NHS as a clinical scientist with a focus on informatics.
Being new to the NHS and the field of clinical informatics, I am deeply interested in understanding and promoting AI fairness to ensure that AI technologies are developed and deployed in ways that treat all groups equitably and address challenges related to algorithmic bias.
Besides working and studying, I love to spend most of my time outside, whether that’s running, hillwalking or just walking the dog!
