Having trained in a radiotherapy physics career, I joined the Clinical Scientific Computing Team at Guy’s as St Thomas’ NHS FT as a Senior Clinical Scientist in AI with direct experience of the positive and negative outcomes that software can have on patients diagnosis and treatment. When I led the development of the regulatory process for safe medical software and medical AI development it became apparent that the need to gather broad range of voices at an early stage is necessary to understand how AI can affect patients, clinicians, hospitals, and access to care. The regulatory landscape for medical AI is changing, but it is always trying to catch up to the latest tech innovations. This drives me to ensure that what we build, or buy, for clinical deployment is always cognisant of the latest concerns of the people it affects.
Outside of work I’m either clipped in to a bike on a road/gravel track, or in the kitchen studying the gospel according to Ottolenghi.
